Toys kept disappearing from a police holiday donation drive, their therapy dog was the thief

Baby-Boom

Dogs can sometimes be unwitting thieves! A police department therapy dog, on the other hand, is the last person I’d expect to be able to do that. But a dog in Franklin, Massachusetts, decided to show me how wrong I was.

The Franklin Police Department gathered items for the Santa Foundation, a local charity that supports individuals in need, a few days before Christmas.

However, officers were taken aback when they discovered that some of the collected toys had vanished, prompting them to launch an investigation.

The toy thief turned out to be Ben, the department’s therapy dog, who was supposed to be guarding them.

Furthermore, one of the policemen caught the 1-year-old Golden Retriever in the act by filming the entire scenario.

Deputy Chief James Mill told WFXT that when Ben spotted the toys, he assumed they all belonged to him.

In a Facebook post, the police department said, „We learned an extremely valuable lesson today.“ „You should… when you have a classroom full of toys ready to be shipped to the Santa Foundation.“

1. Keep the toys elevated or 2. close the classroom door.

If not, a golden retriever will gather them during the course of the day and bring them back to his den. Officer Cusson deserves credit for catching this [thief] on tape.“
